Phase 1: Evaluate and Calm Irritated Areas
Early care focuses on understanding the injury, ruling out concerns that require referral, reducing aggravating factors, and introducing appropriate movement. The provider may modify activities and use gentle manual, chiropractic, or therapeutic techniques based on tolerance.
Phase 2: Restore Motion and Control
As symptoms allow, rehabilitation can progress toward better joint motion, muscle control, posture, coordination, and tolerance for routine tasks. Exercises are selected for the patient’s current ability rather than copied from a generic program.
Phase 3: Return to Daily Demands
Later-stage care focuses on the movements and loads that matter in real life—driving, working, lifting, training, caring for family, or returning to recreation. Progress is reviewed and the plan is adjusted to address remaining limitations.
